Lovely Professional University (LPU) has clarified that the Hardaspur village land, which has ignited a political storm, is not under its possession. “As per the land records, six kanal 19 marla land belongs to Gurdwara Singh Sabha (Hardaspur village) since 1933. The gurdwara committee is in possession of the land,” the university said in a statement.

The LPU’s department of media relations has also clarified the panchayat of Hardaspur village, via a letter dated May 9, 2022, had conveyed to the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO), Phagwara, that the land belonged to the gurdwara and that the Hardaspur gram panchayat had no right over it.

“The Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee of Hardaspur village today conveyed to the authorities that the LPU has nothing to do with the land in question. The gudwara committee possess the land. It has leased out the land to a private person,” the university’s media team added.
