The officials said the Animal Husbandry Veterinary Officer, Dr Ankita Dhuria, was called along with Dr Amarjit, Dr Lekhika Karni Khera and Dr Rishabh Jajoria from the Civil Veterinary Hospital at Ladhuka.

They performed the operation on the stomach of a sick cow. During the operation, a huge amount of polythene sheets and carry bags were removed. They said the cow was healthy after the operation.

The cattle pound committee members, Dinesh Modi and Rakesh Kumar Chawla, thanked the team of doctors. The veterinary surgeons who performed the operation said they were always ready to serve cattle and livestock with diligence.

The Animal Husbandry Department Assistant Directors, Dr Mandeep Singh and Dr Gurcharan Singh, urged people to shun polythene sheets as well as polybags. They said products made from such materials were banned as they harmed the environment as well as livestock.
