Video of police seizing firecrackers sparks inquiry

A video surfaced online on Friday that shows police officials forcefully collecting firecrackers from a shop in Faridkot town, which has put the police in an embarrassing situation. As the video went viral, the district police chief ordered an inquiry into the conduct of the officers involved. The Faridkot SSP, Dr Pragya Jain, said all officers in the video have been identified and a departmental inquiry is underway.

Dealers alleged police officials first confiscated firecrackers, claiming the sales were illegal; however, they later returned the confiscated stock after receiving bribes without any formal documentation.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
