Apparently encouraged by the new policy of the Punjab Government to allow home isolation for asymptomatic patients, villagers are opting for Covid-19 testing voluntarily. During a Covid testing camp at Cheema village of Barnala, locals came out voluntarily to get themselves tested for the virus.

Village panchayat members and others not only got themselves and their families tested, but they also motivated others to follow the suit.

Barnala Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka said a large number of villagers voluntarily turned up to get themselves tested at the village-level camp.

“The administration has been working round the clock to allay fears about Covid testing and encouraging people to get themselves tested. This has resulted in a large number of people voluntarily turning up for the tests,” said Phoolka.
