It is learnt the state party leadership is sending feelers to leaders who had left the party. Ahead of the polls, many traditional Congress leaders, including HS Hanspal, Mohinder Singh Kaypee, Raman Behl, Malkit Singh Dakha, Jagmohan Singh Kang, Amrik Dhillon, Joginder Singh Mann, Kewal Dhillon, Harminder Jassi, KK Bawa and Daaman Bajwa, had either joined other parties or stayed home over being ignored.

“There is no harm in talking to leaders who left due to some genuine grievance, and not those who enjoyed positions and then left the party,” said Warring, who is currently meeting party leaders across the state. The PCC chief is also meeting those leaders who were upset over being ignored.

Over the past few days, former PCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu had met expelled leaders such as Amrik Singh Dhillon and Surjit Dhiman, who were shown the door by the party for one reason or the other. Another senior leader Kewal Dhillon was also expelled from the party.

CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa said the ongoing effort was aimed at meeting all leaders and putting up a united front to take on the Opposition. Also, background efforts were on to arrange a meeting between Warring and Sidhu. Former working president Sukhwinder Singh Danny has been making efforts to bring Warring and Sidhu on the same page. Bajwa is also expected to meet Sidhu in the coming days.
