In a statement here, SAD leader Prem Singh Chandumajra said by issuing threats of filing a defamation suit against Majithia, the minister was trying to divert the attention from the main issue of diverting five crore buprenorphine tablets to private de-addiction centres as well as sheltering accused by indulging in a cover-up operation. “He should first explain why a huge quantity of tablets has gone missing? Being a minster he was directly responsible for this scam,” he said, adding that neither running away from probe nor issuing defamation threats would help Sidhu.

Asking Sidhu why he had “obstructed” the Health Secretary from doing his duty who had issued show-cause notices to private centre with details of missing tablets, the SAD leader said Sidhu had tried to protect the accused by overruling the secretary’s decisions.
