Where faith unites, not divides
The land of Sur Singh conveys a powerful message of harmony, where two Mandirs serve not just as places of devotion for a particular community, but as sacred spaces embraced by all residents, regardless of faith.
One of these is the Devi Dwara Mandir, dedicated to Bhagwati Maa Kali, located in the main bazaar of the town. The temple was originally established in 1822, and renovation efforts were revived in 1973 as part of ongoing sewa. According to Pandit Jai Parkash Sharma, who currently serves the temple, four devoted followers — Pt Bakshi Ram, Pt Jagan Nath, Pt Aulakh Giri Bomb and Pt Tara Chand — once offered their tongues at the feet of Maa Kali as an act of supreme devotion.
It is believed they were then granted a darshan of the goddess.
Another notable temple, the Shiwala Mandir, also stands in Sur Singh, spreading a message of peace and reinforcing the spirit of communal unity.
