Woman falls to death from building at LPU
A 23-year-old woman died after falling off the ninth floor of a building at Lovely Professional University (LPU) here.
The police said the incident that took place on Saturday afternoon seemed to be a case of suicide.
The woman, a former university student and currently working in Delhi, had come to the university to meet a faculty member, according to police sources.
The victim, identified as Akanksha SN, hailed from Karnataka’s Mangalore.
Satnampura SHO Hardeep Singh said, “The post-mortem report is awaited. We are waiting for the victim’s parents to arrive here to record their statements. It is an apparent case of suicide. The matter is presently in the initial stages of investigation.”
Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Toora said the women was not currently a student of the university and was employed in a firm in Delhi.
