Woman smuggler held with 1.20 kg heroin

Moga: The police have arrested a woman drug smuggler and recovered 1.2 kg of heroin, worth Rs 8 crore in the international market, from her.

SSP Harmanbir Singh Gill said the woman was intercepted by the local police near Kannia village in the Daramkot sub-division. As per the rules, a gazetted police officer along with women staff was summoned on the spot to check her, he said.

During the checking, 1.2 kg of heroin was recovered from the woman who said her name was Manjit Kaur, alias Akki, a resident of Nurpur Hakima village.

A case under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against her at the Dharamkot police station and further investigation was in progress, Gill added. TNS
