Work honestly, even bags full of cash can’t satisfy one’s hunger: Mann to state police

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday asked the state police to work honestly and diligently, cautioning that a greedy person’s hunger couldn’t be satiated even if one kept “collecting bags full of cash”.

He said corruption was unacceptable but some people forgot that they had to pay price of their deeds. The CM said this during the launch of a six-day investigator course for the state police at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law.

In a veiled reference to suspended Ropar Range DIG HS Bhullar, who was arrested by the CBI on corruption charges, he said one or two black sheep always brought “disrepute” to the entire force.

“Those busy minting money forget that they have to surely pay for their deeds as corruption is unacceptable,” he added.

The CM’s remarks came days after Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria took a dig at the Punjab Government over the arrest of Bhullar, saying it was “unfortunate” that despite having an elaborate administrative set-up, it was unable to detect corruption.

He had said that the DIG’s arrest and subsequent recovery of cash and valuables from him called for introspection.

Minister Balbir Singh and Vice-Chancellor Jai Shankar Singh were present on the occasion.
