Chandigarh, January 11

Amid the growing tussle between PCC chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and his predecessor Navjot Singh Sidhu, Punjab affairs in-charge Devendra Yadav on Thursday chose to play it down, stating that he did not see any issue in it but rushed to add that any indiscipline will not be tolerated.

Giving a guarded reply on Sidhu’s political activities, Yadav, on summing up his three-day visit to Punjab, during a press conference said he had twice met Sidhu and did not see any differences in the state unit. He said the former PCC chief had informed him about his pre-planned rallies. Yadav, who was accompanied by Warring, evaded replies over the pointed media queries on Sidhu and rather got perturbed.

Yadav’s statement came in the wake of a number of party leaders seeking disciplinary action against Sidhu for holding individual rallies. However, sources said he was learnt to have advised him to not target party leaders in his public statements.

Yadav said, after interacting with leaders and party workers at different levels, he would brief the party high command on various issues concerning the state unit. On being asked about the stiff opposition by the state leaders to the alliance with AAP, he said leaders had given different opinions on the issue. “I cannot share their response on the alliance with the media. It is an internal party matter”, he said.

Earlier, Yadav and AICC spokesperson Anshul Avijit spoke on the upcoming Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur to Mumbai. Avijit said “The yatra is similar to the Bharat Jodo Yatra where we covered areas from Kerala to Kashmir. This time, our aim will be to cover the states which we missed out from the East to the West. We will cover a total of 6,713 km and 110 districts during this two-month yatra.”
