Youngest civil warrior: Army sponsors Ferozepur boy’s education

In a gesture of support and empowerment, the Indian Army's Golden Arrow Division has committed to fully sponsor the education of Shvan Singh, a 10-year old boy from Ferozepur. Singh had assisted troops deployed on the border during Operation Sindoor by regularly bringing them refreshments.

Recognising his courage and resilience during the operation, the Army is ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder his growth and aspirations. The Golden Arrow Division will cover all aspects of his schooling — from admission to academic needs.

During a ceremony at Ferozepur Cantonment, Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, GOC-in-C Western Command, felicitated Shvan, highlighting the Army's bond with the people of Punjab and its sense of responsibility towards the next generation.

Hailed as the country’s youngest civil warrior, Shvan used to bring water, milk, lassi and ice from his house during Operation Sindoor for soldiers. A resident of Tara Wali village in Ferozepur district, he is a student of Class IV. He has also expressed a desire to join the Army.

Shvan's story serves as a reminder of the quiet heroes across the country who deserve recognition and support. Lt Gen Katiyar emphasised that the Army stands with Shvan in every step of his journey — reflecting its commitment to the welfare of citizens.
