Youth Cong leader booked in rape case

A Youth Congress leader allegedly blackmailed and raped a nurse, who is posted in a remote village of Nihalsinghwala subdivision, in his car on a ‘kuchha’ road between Bhagike and Saidoke villages, the police said here today.

It is only after Nihalsinghwala CJM Amandeep Kaur gave orders that the police registered a case under Section 376 of the IPC against accused Varun Joshi. A hunt has been launched to nab him.

Varun’s wife Mamta Rani is the sarpanch of the village where the victim is posted at the primary health centre. The nurse alleged that Varun allegedly started blackmailing her over her objectionable pictures. He allegedly extorted Rs 4 lakh from her. On April 25, he allegedly took her to an isolated place and raped her. — TNS
