Youth throws 'gutka sahib' in Golden Temple sarovar, held

Amritsar, December 15

A youth has been apprehended at the Golden Temple complex allegedly for throwing ‘gutka sahib’ (small Sikh holy book) in the shrine sarovar.

He has been identified as Ranbir Singh, who was caught on the spot by SGPC employees and later handed over to the police.

SGPC officials said the youth, with shorn hair, was spotted taking out the ‘gutka sahib’ from his pocket and before he could be intercepted, he threw the holy book into the sarovar. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
