Heroin packet with photo of Pakistan's 'king mafia' gang found in Sriganganagar village farm near border
500 gms packet suspected to be dropping by Pakistani smugglers by drones
In the border area of Srikaranpur, located in Sriganganagar Sector, near the Pakistan border, a half-kg heroin packet has been recovered from a field in Chak 23-O village. Earlier, another half-kg heroin packet was found in the same area on November 2. Police suspect that both packets may be part of a larger heroin consignment dropped by Pakistani smugglers using drones.
According to police sources, this suspicious packet was found lying in the field of a farmer, Ishwar Singh, late yesterday evening. It is reported that the farmer went to the field yesterday evening to irrigate the mustard field and spotted the packet. He informed the authorities, after which BSF officials and jawans stationed at the nearby Naggi border post arrived and took possession of the packet.
Upon information from BSF, Srikaranpur police station in-charge Inspector Ram Pratap Verma also reached the spot. After completing the necessary procedures at the site, the packet was handed over to the police. Based on the report of the BSF Senior Assistant Company Commander stationed at Naggi border post, a case has been registered under the NDPS Act.
Police sources said that the recovered heroin weighs 500gm, with an estimated international market value of approximately 2.5 crore rupees. The packet was filled in a white cloth bag, wrapped in a yellow plastic sheet. On top, a cadmium-containing plastic pipe and a steel ring were attached with cello tape. It visibly appeared that the packet was dropped from a drone. Upon removing the cello tape and plastic sheet, seals with a photo of 'King Mafia' were found on the bag.
'King Mafia' is said to be a major drug smuggling gang active in Pakistan.
Police claim that after a heroin packet was found on November 2, a search operation was conducted in the surrounding fields, but no other packet was found at that time. Now, two possibilities are being considered. First, the packet found yesterday evening could be part of a new consignment dropped by Pakistani smugglers via drone after November 2. Second, this packet might have been dropped before November 2 but was overlooked during the search operation.
Police, BSF, and intelligence agencies were now focusing on Chak 23-O village and surrounding area to check whether someone from Punjab had arrived in recent days.
