New Delhi, August 1
Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha called for lowering the minimum age to contest elections from 25 years to 21 years on Thursday. He highlighted the “stark contrast” between India’s youthful population and the ageing political class. “At least 65 per cent of our population is less than 35 years old and 50 per cent of our population is less than 25 years old. Yet this demographic is underrepresented in Parliament,” Chadha said during Zero Hour.
