Yamunanagar, August 4
The Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation is set to carry out a number of development works in the area amounting to Rs 149.88 lakh (about Rs 1.5 crore).
The MC authorities have called tenders to undertake several construction works, including the expansion and construction work of community centres. According to information, the civic body will expand community centres in Peer Majra and Mandebri villages of Ward No. 19 by spending Rs 25.75 lakh.
Ayush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner, said the urban and rural areas falling under the MC’s jurisdiction were witnessing a change in terms of development as paved roads, drains, sewerage lines, etc. were being laid and constructed. Besides, other development works were being undertaken as well.
According to the Municipal Commissioner, two sheds would be constructed at the community centre of the Jammu colony of Ward No. 13 at a cost of Rs 38.52 lakh. Also, Rs 1.37 lakh would be spent on the repair work of the community centre at Shastri Colony of Ward No. 9. A road and a retaining wall would be constructed at Gadhauli in Ward No. 11 at a cost of Rs 46.68 lakh.
Additionally, special repair work would be carried out in various colonies of Ward No. 16 at a cost of Rs 16.71 lakh. The construction of a community centre at Farakpur village of Ward No. 18 would be completed at a cost of Rs 10.60 lakh. The community centre of Jampur Mandebar village in Ward No. 18 would be expanded at a cost of Rs 10.25 lakh.
“Development works worth crores are being undertaken in the area. The twin cities and the rural areas falling under the MC area have seen a tremendous change in terms of development,” claimed Sinha.
He said crores of rupees were being spent to construct community centres and dharamshalas so that locals could get better facilities for social activities and other programmes. “The works are being undertaken at a fast pace. Now, the MC has issued tenders for development works worth Rs 149.88 lakh. After the allotment of the tender, the construction work will start immediately,” he added.
