The celebrations of 174th Founder’s Day at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, began today with tributes being paid to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
Headmaster Himmat Singh Dhillon paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and said, “Students should lead a life that values character and integrity.” He reminded the students about the belief firmly held by Gandhi — “Be the change you wish to see. Only changing oneself can lead to a sustainable change in the world”.
Rich tributes were paid to alumni Arun Khetarpal, a Param Vir Chakra awardee, for his supreme sacrifice in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. Head boy Nihal Singh Sidhu reflected upon the life of Mahatma Gandhi and head girl Pavya Singh called upon everyone to shun destructive weapons and fortify oneself with the power of truth and non-violence.
A special chapel service was organised to felicitate old students of the school who had graduated 25 years ago, 50 years ago and 60 years ago. Old students from the batches of 1956, 1960, 1961, 1970, 1971, 1995 and 1996 had sent their video recordings, reminiscing their school days and contribution of the school in their lives.
