Know your why

It is critical to have a clear goal in mind before starting to learn anything. This is because having a clear ‘why’ will help you stay motivated throughout your learning journey and will help you learn with zeal.

Read sections of the newspaper

Read your favorite section of the paper each day in English to learn an array of new and interesting words and their uses. The key here is to read only those sections of the English newspapers that interest you. This will help you to avoid getting bored and giving up on your learning.

Also, make sure you read a variety of newspapers to avail yourself of a wide variety of material to learn. Sticking to just one column of one specific newspaper may restrict your scope of learning.

Use English words in daily communication

After reading a newspaper, try to discuss the news you read with your family and friends in your language of comfort. You will notice that while talking in your chosen language, some English words slip through. This happens because your mind picked up these words subconsciously while reading that particular news and is now using these words to explain the same news to other people. Practicing this technique will help you become more and more comfortable with the usage of English in daily communication. It will also help you to learn and retain more words and their meaning.

Leverage entertainment to gain education

Once you have started benefitting from reading English, it is time to start speaking the language. One easy way to go about it is to listen to English songs and watch English movies in your free time. This exercise will keep you entertained in your free time while simultaneously helping you learn the correct pronunciation and sentence formation. Over time, this will help you to improve your spoken English as well as your confidence.

Take the help of a dictionary

After you have established an affinity with the language, it is time to start forming a vocabulary. The best way to do this is to constantly read and listen to English as explained above. While doing so, take note of the words that you are having trouble understanding and remembering in later conversations. Look up these words in the dictionary. Once understood, try to use these words in your everyday communication so you can memorize them for good and strengthen your vocabulary.

Summing Up

As opposed to the myth, learning English or any other foreign language does not have to be a tedious task. One can learn it easily by utilizing the above-mentioned tips and practicing regularly.
