Kurukshetra, December 5
More than 55,000 school children from across the state would recite the Gita shalokas on the occasion of Gita Mahotsav on December 25. As many as 1,100 schools across the state would be identified for this and 50 students each from the identified schools would participate in the online recitation of the shalokas.
Due to Covid pandemic several events of the International Gita Mahotsav are being celebrated online this year. Till last festival, 18,000 school children used to assemble at the Theme park in Kurukshetra to recite the verses of Gita.
As per the information, 18 students will start the Gita Path at Brahma Sarovar while the remaining students will start reciting the shalokas online in their respective districts across the state.
An International Gita Mahotsav online quiz contest has also been started from December 4 and it will conclude on December 21.
Besides this, the Kurukshetra development board has also appealed the gram panchayats to light up 1,800 earthen lamps each on 134 Tirthas (pilgrimages) spread under 48-kos land spread over Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat and Jind districts on December 25. The KDB has also asked 31 religious and social organisations associated with KDB to light up earthen lamps at Brahmasarovar, Sanninhit Sarovar and Jyotisar Tirtha.
