Students and staff of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Bathinda, commemorated the birth anniversary of Guru Harkishan, the eighth Guru of the Sikhs. The members of the school managing committee, SHS Mokha, retired Principal Kulwinder Singh, and Advocate Narinderpal Singh, attended the function. The whole week was dedicated to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Harkishan. Various activities were conducted on the school premises; The ‘path’ of Japji Sahib was recited in the morning assembly. Inter-house competitions like slogan writing, shabad gayan and turban tying were organised during the week. The celebration commenced with a serene session of ‘shabad kirtan’, rendered soulfully by the school’s music group, setting a spiritually enriching tone for the day. This was followed by insightful speeches highlighting Guru’s, particularly his selfless service during the smallpox epidemic in Delhi, where he cared for the suffering without hesitation. Students also presented poems, reflections, and brief enactments capturing Guru Harkishan’s values of empathy, courage, and devotion. Principal Gurbinder Kaur thanked and congratulated the guests and children.
