Bhartiya Public School, Dera Bassi, celebrated Haryali Teej. Students and staff displayed a spectacular cultural spirit. The school seniors organised various food stalls where students showcased their diverse talents in cooking. The whole school was adorned with traditional aroma of Punjabi dishes, including kheer, puda, ghewar, seviyan, etc. The tiny tots, dressed in traditional attire, added to the charm of the celebration. A cultural function was also organised. Girls lit up the stage with amazing giddha performances, dancing gracefully to traditional Punjabi boliyan. The dhol’s beat, bright phulkaris, and happy faces made the performances unforgettable and full of holiday spirit. Henna application was the main attraction of the function. Girls applied beautiful henna designs on the hands of the teachers. Management members emphasised the importance of inculcating cultural values in young minds. Principal Neeru Dhiman acquainted all with the ever-lasting effect of Punjabi culture. She also threw light on the significance of ‘Saun maheena te Tian’ in the Punjabi culture and exhorted the students to be proud of their rich cultural heritage and stay connected with it till their last breath.
