Class IV students of the school visited the Tribune office in Sector 29, Chandigarh, as part of the school’s industrial education programme. The educational visit aimed to give them an opportunity to understand the process of printing and to explore the world of journalism and print media. The students were given a comprehensive tour of the printing press by the Tribune’s knowledgeable staff, who guided them through the complex process of producing a newspaper, from the moment content is finalised to the time it hits newsstands. The students were particularly interested in the massive printing press. The tour also shed light on technological advancements in printing and the students got an opportunity to see the latest machinery used in the process of newspaper production. They also learnt about the different types of inks used in printing, their composition and the role they play in the final product. The visit ended with a session where the students asked questions to get a deeper understanding of all that they had observed.
