The school education department Punjab has started competitions at the school level under the theme ‘Show and Tell’ to highlight the English language talent of the students. The competition will run till May 25.
The Director SCERT Jagtar Singh Kularhian, informed that the school-level competitions for the students of class VI to XII have started today and will continue till May 25.
The competitions are being held online due to the closure of schools due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
The aim of these competitions is to improve the English language standards of the students. He said that ‘Parho Punjab, Paraho Punjab’ programme is being run to impart quality education to the students of government schools.
Under this programme, concrete efforts are being made to impart language proficiency to the students. During these competitions the English speaking, reading and writing skills of the students are being honored.
He said that competition for Class VI was conducted today, while the contests of Class VII and VIII will be held on May 21 and 22, respectively. Similarly, the competitions for Class IX and XI students will be held on May 24 and for Class X and XII students will be held on May 25.
The department has also directed the English and Social Studies District / Block Mentors to assist the teachers concerned during the competitions and to monitor the schools under their jurisdiction.
