Present on the occasion were the school’s Principal Mamta Pandey, chief guest Vaishali Bhatia Arora (Principal, PIET Sanskriti School, Panipat), Sheeba Nisar (Coordinator of the Haryana unit of the Indian Society of Microbiology, currently Head of the Science Department at Swaraj Public School), teachers from various schools, and school staff members. The workshop began with the lighting of a lamp and the ‘Gayatri Mantra’, in veneration of the feet of Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of Learning. The school Principal honoured all guests by presenting them with saplings. The programme’s objective was to promote gender equality, equal treatment, and an inclusive environment through group discussions, deliberations, and practical examples. The instructor, Vaishali Bhatia, explained that no child is aware of their gender from birth. It is society that imposes these notions. “We need to break this narrow mindedness. To eliminate gender bias, various programmes should be organised periodically, with equal participation by all,” Bhatia said. Sheeba Nisar conducted the programme through various activities. All participants were honoured with certificates.
