Holy Mary’s School, Banur, witnessed a spirited debate competition on a thought-provoking debate topic, “Is Artificial Intelligence a Boom or a Curse?” The event saw enthusiastic participation from students representing all four houses, each putting forth insightful perspectives on the growing influence of artificial intelligence. The competition featured two rounds — the first being a speech round where participants shared their views and ideas, followed by a rebuttal round that tested their reasoning, quick-thinking abilities and argumentative quality. Representing Teresa House were Harleen Manro (VIII-B), Karanjot Singh (VI-B) and Jobanpreet Singh (VI-A); from Gandhi House, Komalpreet Kaur (VI-D), Yadvi Kaushik (VII-D) and Seerat Kaur (VIII-C); from Nehru House, Ekampreet Kaur (VIII-A), Bhawna (VIII-A) and Krishna Sharma (VIII-C); and from Tagore House, Gurleen Kaur (VI-A), Navjot Kaur (VII-D) and Harnoor Kaur (VIII-B). Participants were evaluated on speech style, clarity, structure, teamwork, time management, argument content, evidence and logic. After a dynamic and well-contested event, Teresa House emerged victorious, Gandhi and Nehru Houses shared the second position, while Tagore House secured the third. Principal Dr Shiny Devassy congratulated all the winners and appreciated the participants for their articulate expressions and thoughtful insights on the impact of artificial intelligence in modern life.
