The Environmental Studies (EVS) Department organised a Nukkad Natak (street play) on alarming issue of mobile addiction to highlight its negative effects and excessive usage. Principal Dr Vinita Kumar Tomar announced the opening of the play. The primary aim of the Nukkad Natak was to spread awareness about the increasing dependence on mobile phones and the harmful consequences associated with their overuse. The play emphasised how mobile addiction negatively impacts mental and physical health, social relationships and productivity. The play was enacted by a group of enthusiastic students of classes III to V who effectively portrayed different scenarios related to mobile addiction. Some key themes like family disconnection, lack of communication and emotional bonding within families, the impact of prolonged screen time on eyesight, posture, and mental well-being were highlighted. A powerful scene showed how mobile addiction distracts students from studies, leading to poor academic results. The play also illustrated how excessive mobile usage reduces real-life social interactions, making people more isolated and dependent on virtual connections. The performance received an overwhelming response from the parents, teachers and staff members who were deeply moved by the thought-provoking enactment. Many students resonated with the message and pledged to limit their mobile usage.
