Faculty from Lovely Professional University organised a workshop on the school premises. The objective of conducting the workshop was to make the students aware of adulteration in spices. Gurleen (Assistant Professor in Microbiology Department at LPU) was the resource person. She explained to the students how bacteria build their colonies by using petri plates. After that she showed different slides of bacteria under high resolution compound microscopes. She explained the students about adulteration in different spices. She explained the students how to check whether the spices like red chilli, black pepper, turmeric and coriander are pure or adulterated. She told the students that how adulterated food items are affecting adversely our health. Students also performed some activities. Seema Handa, Director, said, “Such kind of workshops help the students to be aware of their health. Students learn new things irrespective of the streams they have opted. These workshops are like road openers for the students because they help them to opt the courses after Class XII.” Komal Arora, Principal, presented a token of thanks to the resource person for conducting such a knowledgeable and interesting workshop for the students.
