Chandigarh, May 21
Punjab School Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla has said as many as 13,48,632 government school students will receive free uniform at their home for the academic session i.e. 2021-22 as a grant of Rs 80.92 crore had been released by the Education Department.
The Cabinet minister said after sanctioning the required grant, directions had been issued to district education officers for proper arrangements of uniform and have been asked to follow the safety protocol while distributing these among students. He added funds would be credited to the school management committees (SMCs) for the purchase of uniform.
Singla said: “The state government has been taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the students amid the pandemic. Apart from providing uniform on the doorstep, no students will be called to the school for measurement. Instead, the staff will obtain the size from parents and provide the uniform as per the desired size.” TNS
