GGSS School Sirhind wins Rs 10 lakh prize in best schools category

 As per the list declared by Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla of the best schools in the district picked up by the Education department after initiating various grading, Government (Girls) Senior Secondary Smart School Sirhind has been declared best school in the district and won a prize of Rs 10 lakh. Similarly Government High School of village Lataur has been declared best school in High School category and got a prize of Rs 7.5 lakh and Government Middle School of Bara locality in Sirhind has been declared best school in Middle School category and got a prize of Rs 5 lakh.

 Kuljit Singh Nagra, MLA, congratulated the principals of these schools and said that he had been working tirelessly for improving infrastructure in the government schools by involving NGOs, village panchayats and managing committees of the schools. He said he is thankful to Education Minister for extending all help in converting almost 90% schools of his constituency as Smart Schools.

 Tejinder Singh, Principal of GGSS School Sirhind, expressed satisfaction and said the school deserved the recognition as a lot of hard work had been done to achieve it. He said  the results of the school had been excellent for the past several years and several students had featured in the state merit list. The school registered an increase in strength by 15 % compared to last year and currently 1,010 girl students are enrolled in the school. The school has 7 rooms with projector, modern computer lab, e-library, lens room with necessary facilities, science lab and math park. Professional training is also conducted in the school under the NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework) programme. The clean and hygienic environment of the school also attracts. Green lawns and trees enhance the beauty of the school, he added.

 District Education Officer Dr. Prabh Simaran Kaur congratulated the principals and heads of the award winning schools and asked the principals of other schools to continue working diligently.
