Students of Government Model High School (GMHS), Sector-22C, Chandigarh, brought laurels to their institution with a remarkable performance at the Chandigarh State Athletics Championship. Arnavi clinched the gold medal in the under-10 javelin throw. In the under-20 800m race, Hema raced to silver, while Reetu powered her way to bronze, making it a double celebration in the same event. Several other athletes — Simran, Ankush, Nawab, Shiva, Madhu, Kulveer, Gunjan, Akshita, Ishmit, Suhani, Archna and Anant — also put up spirited performances and secured positions, proving that the school has a strong talent pool in athletics. A special felicitation ceremony was held today, where Principal Kulwinder Kaur Nagra honoured the medal winners with medals and T-shirts. She also motivated the other participants by gifting them T-shirts and applauded their determination. Nagra extended her warm congratulations to the students, their parents and the dedicated school staff.

Sports in-charge Anil and yoga teacher and coach Harcharan Singh received special praise for guiding the students. Harcharan Singh also highlighted the benefits of sports in holistic development and informed students about the Chandigarh Administration’s cash awards for young achievers.
