Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16, Chandigarh
A golden jubilee reunion of the 1975 batch (Section A) alumni was held on the school premises. During the event, alumnus Arvind Jain, renowned social worker and member of several organisations, donated 1.5-tonne Hitachi inverter air-conditioners for all 35 classrooms of the school. With this generous contribution, the school has now become fully air-conditioned, making it the first government school in North India and the second in the country to achieve this distinction. The air-conditioning project was officially inaugurated by Prerna Puri, Secretary of Education and Engineering. Speaking at the event, Arvind Jain said the reunion was not just an opportunity to relive old memories but also a moment to reconnect and express gratitude towards their alma mater. In the presence of Principal Bhavneet Kaur and School Coordinator Sheetal, 14 former teachers were honoured during the programme. Additionally, Arvind Jain gifted hampers to all 2,726 current students of the school. He presented gifts to cleaning staff, gardeners, peons, and other support staff. To welcome the alumni, the current students of the school performed a cultural programme in their honour.
