While over 80 per cent of parents had consented to send their wards to schools, Gurugram and Nuh schools resumed six months after lockdown to a lukewarm response. Ironically, despite clear mandate of Central government many schools especially in Nuh have still not got their teachers tested for Covid. Reports of those who opted for RTPCR are still awaited. As many as 450 out of 600 teachers were tested in Nuh and four were found to be Covid positive.

Thin attendance in classrooms

The schools had opened for 'consultation' and guidance for classes IX to XII today but only a handful of students came in. According to teachers while many classes saw no students, some students attended science and maths classes.

Covid SOPs were being followed in city government schools where children are being thermally scanned and made to wash and sanitized hands but it was not that religiously followed in Nuh.

As per authorities total 1,119 students reached schools in Gurugram, including 302 students of class IX, 360 of Class X, 190 of Class XI and 267 of Class XII. On the other hand in district Nuh around 1,500 students reached 102 high and senior secondary schools.

“Fewer students reached school on the first day. Schools were sanitised before students arrived and after they left. Full care is being taken of the safety of students”, said Indu Bokan, DEO, Gurugram.

Senior administration official revealed that over 10,000 out of 16,000 students have submitted consent to attend classes and are expected to join in within a week.

“We are getting in touch with parents and soon children will come in as majority mosses out even on online classes”, said Anup Singh, DEO, Nuh.
