The school hosted the fifth edition of the National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS), a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. The programme aims to instil democratic values and promote critical thinking among the youth. During the event, students assumed the roles of members of Parliament and engaged in thought-provoking discussions on pressing issues, including women’s safety, regulation of coaching centres, increasing professional educational institutions, and support for Paralympic athletes. The participants showcased exceptional research skills, articulate expressions, and well-reasoned arguments, impressing the audience with their intellectual prowess. The house also deliberated on the “One Nation One Election” Bill, proposing simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and state Assemblies. While the ruling party emphasised the benefits of reduced election frequency and minimised disruptions, the Opposition demanded greater state autonomy and flexibility in the election schedule to accommodate regional and local factors. Principal Jaya Bhardwaj expressed her satisfaction with the event, stating, “It’s heartening to witness our students engage in informed discussions on critical issues like electoral reforms. As we celebrate our Constitution, we must continue to nurture democratic values, critical thinking, and effective communication among our students, empowering them to become responsible citizens and future leaders.”
