Hansraj Public School, Sector 6, Panchkula, hosted a two-day capacity building programme (CBP) on economics for senior schoolteachers. The workshop was conducted under the aegis of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and designed to align with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2005) and the NCERT Position Papers on Economics. The sessions were facilitated by Anupma Sharma and Harleen Kaur, who highlighted the indispensable role of economics in developing an analytical and creative mind-set among learners. They emphasised that economics is not merely a subject of facts and figures but a critical exploration of social realities, helping students make sense of production, distribution, consumption, and the allocation of limited resources. In her concluding remarks, Principal Jaya Bhardwaj emphasised that “economics must not be seen as a non-utility subject, but as a powerful lens to understand life, society, and the world around us. As teachers, it is our responsibility to inspire curiosity, develop reasoning, and help learners connect economic concepts to real-life situations. Only then can economics education truly contribute to nation-building and nurture independent, responsible citizens”.
