Humanities stream has once again emerged as the most sought-after stream among the students seeking admission in Class XI in 40 government schools of the city.
The overall highest cut-off for the 2020-2021 session is 98.80 per cent. For science (medical and non-medical), the highest cut-off is 98.80 per cent, while for commerce, it is 97.40 per cent and 98 per cent for humanities.
Science is the first choice of toppers as 69 per cent students who have secured marks above 90 per cent in Class X and applied for admissions in government schools have opted for medical and non-medical stream.
A total of 130 students falling in the same percentage bracket preferred commerce and only 151 students chose humanities.
Humanities, it seems is the choice for average students as 81 per cent students who opted for Humanities have secured below 60 per cent in class X.
While the number of preferences for Science has grown as compared to last year, the preference for Humanities stream has shown a downward trend.
As many as 7547 students have opted for the Humanities stream as against 9115 students opting for it last year. However, a total of 3675 students opted for Science, which is 500 more than the last year and 2257 students chose Commerce stream.
A total of 14,726 registrations have been recorded for Class XI admissions, of which 1247 students applied for more than one stream. Most of these students have secured between 60 per cent and 40 per cent in Class X.
