What are the key achievements of your school in the past year?

The key achievements are: Seven national-level participation and three national-level awards in various sports activities; one international, 15 regional and 15 state-level awards in various Olympiads; 100 per cent CBSE result; awards by Brainfeed, Education World, International School Awards, Tricity Educators Award, and Empowering India Award; participation in the national-level STEM competitions; participation in the CBSE National Science Exhibition; installation of 110 KWp solar power plant; inauguration of ATL lab by the DC, Mohali; introduction of online assessment system for teachers; and psychometric test for classes IX to XII.

Hand-holding initiatives for underachievers

Remedial classes are available for extra support without any extra fee. The school has a team of special educators who work with students with special needs and help them stay tuned to the inclusive setup of school. The school has a full time counsellor who talks to the students and finds out the reasons for their low performance levels and takes action accordingly.

How are the ‘lessons’ of Covid time online teaching being incorporated in the normal offline mode now?

The pandemic proved to be a blessing in disguise. Online classes for academics and extracurricular activities are conducted whenever required. Hybrid teaching has been introduced. The flipped model of teaching has been introduced. Students learn skills like making PPTs, Google slides and videos. Online interactions are conducted for new admissions. The online training, meeting, webinars, courses, sessions are conducted/attended. Inter-school events and PTMs are conducted online. The live streaming of school events/functions is held.

What is the teacher taught-ratio in your school?

Shemrock has a teacher-taught ratio of 20:1

NEP has set new goals for school education. How far have you progressed in its implementation?

The Shemrock School system is aligned with the goals of the NEP. There is ICT integration in teaching and learning methodologies. We are nurturing critical and innovative thinking through STEM education. Observation system for tracking students and their learning levels has been introduced. We place great emphasis on the development of foundational literacy and numeracy. Our inclusive setup offers all students equal opportunities to develop and excel.

Vocational education classes or skill-building opportunities given to students.

CBSE code 402-Data entry is a subject for classes IX and X. Shemrock offers a wide array of clubs, ranging from sports, art and craft, music, dance, healthy cooking to Ted Ed, social and environmental awareness, media school, theatre, artificial intelligence, etc. Students of classes XI and XII are taken to industries and manufacturing units for professional exposure.
