Inspiring lessons beyond classroom

Every student has a teacher who leaves a lasting impact. For me, that teacher is my social studies teacher, Ritu Dogra. She is not only an excellent teacher but also a true guide and motivator who inspires me every day.

What makes her special is her unique way of teaching. Social studies, which many find dry or difficult, becomes fascinating in her class. She connects history, geography, civics and economics to real-life examples we can relate to. When she teaches about freedom fighters, it feels as if those leaders are alive before us. Her geography lessons make us imagine travelling to mountains, rivers and deserts. She brings every topic to life with passion and energy.

She emphasises social studies is not just about memorising dates and places but about understanding the world. She teaches us to learn from the past and be responsible citizens for the future. She also reminds us that knowledge without values is meaningless, ensuring we grasp both. What inspires me most is her personal attention to every student. She treats all learners equally, patiently explaining things to those who struggle. She encourages all questions and makes everyone feel valued with her kindness and patience.

Once, I hesitated to speak in class, afraid of making mistakes. She noticed and gently said, “Your opinion matters. Speak with confidence.” Her words gave me courage and since then, I have spoken up more confidently.

She also inspires through discipline and values. She believes success comes from hard work, honesty, and humility. Always punctual and prepared, she motivates us to be the same. She teaches us respect for our country, culture and each other, alongside life skills like teamwork and empathy. Ritu Dogra is more than a teacher — she is a mentor and role model. She inspires curiosity, hard work, and confidence. I feel lucky to have her shaping both my knowledge and character.
