Satyam Mehta is unlike any other teenager you have ever met. For starters, Satyam is not your average teenager, aimlessly spending time on social media or video games. He is quietly making real and positive changes in society, working on several burning issues of the day. Sixteen-year-old Satyam Mehta from Noida is a changemaker with a passion for social entrepreneurship. At an age when students often run between classes and tuitions, Satyam has displayed exceptional rigor to trigger tangible change.
Satyam has received accolades for his support to several social and humanitarian causes, including alleviation of rural poverty and uplift of farmers, promoting female hygiene, and managing electronic waste. At a tender age, Satyam is a staunch advocate of collective growth.
He launched his app Rural Invest to leverage the power of finance to empower and enable users to invest money through SIPs in various asset classes strategically. At Rural Invest, users of the app have invested over $100,000 in SIPs. This initiative received immense appreciation and was mentioned among the top 10 Indian social start-ups that made 2020 better by YourStory.
Pravahkriti is a social cause conceptualised by Satyam to promote better menstrual health and hygiene management among females of different age groups across diverse sections of society. He aims to encourage period positivity and raise awareness amongst not only women but also men. He conducted over 100+ activities and impacted over 5,000 students through his initiative.
Another issue close to Satyam’s heart has been environmental degradation, mainly due to improper electronic waste disposal. He has been the co-founder of JunkGuards, which aims to collect electronic waste and process its disposal scientifically. This movement has already collected 1000 kg waste and has given it off for proper disposal. Satyam and his team won the National level NYS Leadership League and received prizes worth Rs 2,00,000 from the Foundation of Young Innovators, Essel Group, and The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE). In addition, the young futuristic team of Satyam is in conversation to set up E-Waste bins in community centers in collaboration with RWAs and schools.
Satyam is a proud recipient of ‘The Diana Award 2021, the prestigious accolade a young person aged 9-25 can receive for their social action or humanitarian work. He received the award for taking up socio-entrepreneurial initiatives for the betterment of the society in his country and made India proud of the global Diaspora. TNS
