Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’s National Sports Meet concludes

The 53rd KVS National Sports Meet concluded with a grand closing ceremony at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. The prestigious competition saw participation of 1,100 players from 25 Regions of various Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country who showcased their skills in Handball U-14 & 17 Boys category and Boxing U-14, 17 & 19 Boys category. Daljit Singh, Assistant Commissioner, GST Audit Circle Jalandhar, an international hockey player, was the chief guest. The event was marked by a series of engaging activities, including a welcome address by PC Tewari, Assistant Commissioner, KVS, RO, Chandigarh. The event also featured a special cultural programme that showcased the diverse talents of students. The spectacular traditional dance called ‘sammi’, presented by students of KV, Suranussi, stole the hearts of all present. The highlight of the ceremony was the prize distribution, where outstanding participants were honoured with medals and trophies for their achievements in various sports categories of boxing and handball. In handball boys U-14, Hyderabad region got the first position, Dehradun bagged the second position and Patna was at the third place. In handball boys U-17, Gurugram Region clinched gold medal, Patna silver and Varanasi region bagged bronze medal. The overall championship trophy for boxing (boys) in all categories, U 14, U17 and U 19, was clinched by Gurugram region. The event concluded with the lowering of the flag and the declaration of the meet closed, followed by a vote of thanks by Karambir Singh, Principal, KV No 1, Pathankot.
