A legal awareness session was conducted at Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh. The session aimed to educate students about the importance of legal literacy, their rights and responsibilities as citizens, and the significance of upholding justice in society. The guest speaker was Surabhi Prashar, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar. In her insightful address, Prashar emphasised the importance of being aware of one’s legal rights and duties, especially among the youth. She enlightened the students about the POCSO Act and shared details of several important cases handled during her tenure, stressing the need for sensitivity, awareness, and responsibility in legal matters. The session was followed by an interactive Q&A round, where students eagerly asked questions related to the judicial system, legal education, and career opportunities in law. Prashar patiently addressed each question, sharing valuable insights and real-life experiences that inspired the young audience. Dr Earnest Charles J Samuel and Dr Annie Charles Samuel, Founders and Directors of Mount Carmel Schools, appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of nurturing legally aware and socially responsible citizens. Principal Dr Praveena John Singh thanked the guest speaker for her valuable time and guidance, encouraging students to remain informed, aware, and committed to the values of justice and empathy.
