The pressure of performing well in the Class XII Board exams is always high. Due to the massive spread of Covid-19 infection all across the world, Class XII board exams have been postponed and now the students have more time to study and complete their syllabus. Since the time has extended and the cases are rising, the pressure is much higher this year. After learning virtually for more than a year, the students are much stressed to keep up with their studies. Mathematics is one of the subjects which are very complicated for some students. Sometimes even a good student gets goose bumps while preparing or writing his mathematics board exam. If studied properly, mathematics can be a high scoring subject. There is even possibility of getting full marks in this exam, so make your strategy accordingly and start preparing for it right away.

Many students are burning the midnight oil to study every bit of their maths syllabus, so here are some detailed tips to help you prepare for your board exams:

 Make a chapter-wise time table

Understand the chapters and weightage of the syllabus carefully. Go through the marking scheme of Board Exams 2021 and make a subject-wise time table accordingly. See in which areas or chapters you will require more time for preparation. Divide the time accordingly. Here’s a sample time table for you:

  • Integration 1-3 days
  • Differentiation 4-7 days
  • Matrices and Determinants 7-9 days
  • Relations and Functions 9-11 days
  • Probability 11-13 days
  • Limits 13-15 days

Since you now have extended time, you can easily cover your whole maths syllabus in about 15 days. You can make a time table for yourself according to your previous preparation and how much you know. If followed strictly, this time table will not only help you cover every nook and corner of your maths syllabus but will also help you in scoring well in mathematics board exam.

Don’t underestimate NCERT books

To score good in mathematics exam, it is really very important to cover the syllabus from your NCERT book. The concepts and exam pattern of CBSE board exams are based on the NCERT concepts only. We believe that it is also important to study from extra books but in that run, do not ignore the importance of NCERT books. Cover your syllabus once from the NCERT books and jump on to extra guides and books. This will definitely help them in acquiring good marks in board exams.

 Strategize your study

Do some research, study the exam pattern carefully and then strategise your study plan. Like, you must have noticed while solving sample papers or previous years’ papers that a couple of questions from the long answer questions whose weightage is 5-6 marks usually comes from Calculus, Differential Equations or Vectors and 3D Geometry. So, you can practice questions from these chapters more and more in order to get perfect in them. Hence, you can strategize your study accordingly and prepare for your exam. You can even divide your strong and weak areas and make a study plan according to that.

Practice sample papers and previous year papers

It is very important to solve sample and previous years’ question papers in order to score well in Class XII Board Exams. By solving sample papers, you get an idea of how the questions are asked and what pattern do the examiners follow. Sometimes, they tend to repeat the pattern, concept or even a question which can be beneficial for you only when you solve a good number of sample papers or previous years’ papers.

 Test yourself

Make a habit of testing yourself after every study session. This is very important to make sure that you are able to grasp concepts. Set a target for yourself daily, work on it, accomplish it and then test yourself with all you have studied throughout the day. This will help you realise your mistakes and your weak areas. You can work on them again till the time you get perfect in them.

Presentation is the key to good marks

Performing in the exam is equally important as studying for it. Make sure your answer script is neat. Neat work is always beneficial for the student. Ensure that you label the figures and graphs correctly. Avoid overwriting as much as possible. Always leave enough space between two questions and if you are left with some time before the end of the exam, draw a line after every question so that the examiner, without any confusion, checks your answer script.

Time management

Use your reading time judiciously. Understand each and every question, underline important keywords, choose the questions which you are most comfortable with and make a time strategy in your mind. Don’t spend too much time in thinking about the questions which you are not able to solve. If you are stuck, leave some space and move ahead. Revision is a must before submitting your exam.
