Saint Soldier International School, Sector 28 Chandigarh, organised an impactful orientation programme on ‘Bridging the communication gap between parents and children’. The session was conducted for the parents of Grade IX students and was followed by a training programme for the teaching faculty of the school to equip them to continue nurturing their students in an enriching environment. The resource person, Sanjiv Jaggi, a distinguished life mentor, counsellor, and trainer with nearly three decades of experience in mentoring youth, counselling families, and training corporate professionals, led both sessions with immense insight. Addressing the nuances of teenage emotions and responses, Jaggi used mathematical problems to demonstrate that thinking need not always be linear, and that each child requires a flexible, adaptive approach depending on the situation. He went on to share his philosophy that children must be given opportunities to express themselves and build resilience, emphasising that parenting is not just about raising a child, but about shaping them into independent, critical thinkers and capable problem solvers. The resource person also conducted an informative session on ‘Life skills’ for the students of Grade IX where the children learnt about ethical conflict resolution. Students were enlightened on the importance of good behaviour and moral values.
