In a landmark move to bridge academic learning with real-world experience, Ryan International School, Patiala, has become the first school to launch a comprehensive school-level internship programme, empowering students with hands-on exposure to diverse professional fields. The school has rolled out internships across six dynamic domains: Healthcare, Hospitality, Environmental Studies, Technology & IT, Media & Journalism, Entrepreneurship and Sports & Fitness. Speaking about the vision behind these programmes, the Chairman, Ryan Group of Institutions, Dr AF Pinto, stressed that learning must extend beyond textbooks. These internships will provide our students meaningful exposure to industry practices to get a taste of professional work cultures at an early age. Some key highlights from the ongoing and completed internships at the school include: modern banking, conducted at State Bank of India, where students from classes 11 and 12 gained insights into account setup, digital banking and ATM operations; career choices in psychology, led by Dr Vidhu Mohan, Professor at Department of Psychology, Punjabi University, engaging 60 students with interactive discussions on mental health, counselling and stress management; hospitality internship, hosted by Punjabi University’s Department of Tourism & Hotel Management, where students explored the five A’s of tourism and case-based learning in hospitality; sports & shooting academy, held at Fateh Shooting Academy and Best Shooters Academy, Patiala, covering firearm safety, equipment handling and career prospects in shooting sports. The school Principal, Pooja Sharma, added that the initiative reflects Ryan Group’s unwavering commitment to holistic education, making it the first institution in the region to launch and institutionalise structured student internships at the school level.
