Ambala, April 11
Unhappy with the state government’s orders to shut the schools upto Class VIII, till April 30, due to a spike in Covid cases, a section of private schools in Ambala today asked the government to withdraw its decision else the schools will open a front against the government.
The private schools’ operators today gathered under the banners of Integrated Private Schools Welfare Society and Haryana Progressive Schools Conference, and termed government’s orders against education.
Saurabh Kapoor, president Integrated Private Schools Welfare Society, said “There is resentment among the private school operators across the state. The schools remained closed during the last academic session and now the things were coming back on track but the government has again issued the orders to close the schools. The priority of the government should be towards education but unfortunately, the government hasn’t been paying any attention towards education. The government should withdraw its decision else the schools will be forced to open a front against the government.”
The private schools have decided to hold a protest in front of the residence of Ambala City MLA Aseem Goel on April 19 and submit a memorandum in support of their demands for the Education Minister and Chief Minister.
On the other hand Federation of Private Schools’ Welfare Association has decided not to close schools and request the Haryana government to withdraw its decision. Kulbhushan Sharma, president of the association, said “The decision taken by the government will have a negative impact on the schools. We fail to understand what the government is trying to achieve by just closing the schools while all the other activities are on. We will submit memorandums to deputy commissioners and announce the future course of action in Chandigarh soon.”
