Gurukul, Barara
On Raksha Bandhan, Gurukul, Barara, witnessed a splendid blend of tradition, education, and culture. Brahmacharis (students) donned the sacred yajnopavit (holy thread) and pledged a life of celibacy and discipline, while two significant books were formally released. The ceremony began with NCC cadets respectfully escorting the chief guests to the stage. Distinguished dignitaries included Prof Yogesh Singh (Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi), Justice (retd) Pritam Pal, Prof Raj Kumar Mittal (Vice-Chancellor, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow), Prof SK Tomar (Vice-Chancellor, JC Bose University of Science and Technology, Faridabad), Prof Tankeshwar Kumar (Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Haryana), Prof Manoj Kumar (Vice-Chancellor, DAV University, Jalandhar), and Prof Jagmohan Singh (nephew of Shaheed Bhagat Singh), along with several eminent educationists and citizens. Guests were honoured with mementos. Brahmacharis presented a melodious welcome song, followed by the sacred havan ritual. Jayveer Arya administered the yajnopavit to all Brahmacharis, explaining its spiritual and cultural significance, drawing parallels with Lord Rama and Lord Krishna’s own Gurukul traditions. Dr KL Johar, Patron of the Gurukul and a prominent Arya Samaj thinker, introduced the books being released. The first book, “Pioneers of Reform – Prominent Arya Samajists of India”, showcases the lives and contributions of reformers who played a vital role in nation-building. The book was formally released by chief guest Prof Yogesh Singh. The second book, “Great Educationists of India”, was released by Justice (retd) Pritam Pal.
