Rotary Club Chandigarh Central's members launched a monthly “Trash to Treasure” initiative to tackle plastic waste pollution and promote beautification. The first event was held at Blue Bird High School, Sector 16, Panchkula, with members Madhu Bansal, Meena Singla, Sheenu Dania, Vandna Bhatnagar and Salini Aggarwal in attendance. The school's Interact club encouraged students and parents to participate, collecting around 2300 plastic bottles filled with used plastic bags and wrappers. The collected materials were creatively repurposed to construct three sitting areas around trees and create a rangoli.
