A state-level Punjabi poetry recitation competition was organised in accordance with the directions of the Department of Forests and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab. The competition was dedicated to the birth anniversary of the renowned Punjabi poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi, and was inaugurated at his birthplace, Batala, by the Minister of Forests and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab. The theme of the competition was “Protection of environment and importance of trees”. The contest was conducted at the primary, middle, and senior secondary levels. The names of the winners were sent to the department via email, and they were also awarded certificates of appreciation. School Principal Jaswinder Kaur remarked on the occasion that sensitising the young generation to the environment is the need of the hour.
