We are all locked,

Because of which, we are so shocked.

There are no vehicles on the road,

No one can travel abroad, we are all bored.

Everyone is missing members of their families,

And some are yearning,

to celebrate their birthday parties.

There is a need for masks and sanitisers,

Everybody is encouraging the frontline warriors.

Coronavirus pandemic is a real sigh,

But our policemen and doctors,

are keeping our heads high.

They leave their families to serve us daily,

They really do their work seriously.

We don’t know how these people do,

But there’s someone who cares for us too.

Let’s not waste time on trivial things,

As we know, time also has wings.

We have ample time to share,

Smiles and laughter everywhere.

Love your family and serve one another,

Help yourself by helping others.

Reading is a pleasure

Sahl, Class V, Delhi Public School, Chandigarh

Reading books is not only a pleasure,

If you find them, they are a treasure.

Noddy brings fun,

If you love adventure,

The Famous Five is number one.

Do you know James?

He lived in a

giant peach.

Remember that,

books always teach.

The Ugly Duckling will make you cry,

Nemo will motivate you to always try.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid is funny,

Milkha Singh’s The Race of My Life is .

If you wanna have a drink in the Three Broomsticks,

fly with Harry Potter to Hogsmeade without wings.

Abdul Kalam’s Turning Points can give you a dream,

It is as fresh as cream.

Amar Chitra Katha is a sentation,

Every book is a wonderful creation.

Positive side of the lockdown

Anhad Singh Khatumria, Class VIII, Yadavindra Public School, Mohali

Days seem to pass by quickly, even though grave dangers lie ahead. We all know that somehow this pandemic has succeeded in uniting humanity on a front. Most people have spent this serious time optimistically. By looking at the silver lining of the cloud, so have I.

The lockdown, from what I understand, has brought out the best in all of us. Somehow, people who have accomplished so much in various fields have taken out time to follow their passions and take out time for themselves.

We could have handled this situation pessimistically, but as people have united, we intend to overcome it. And we will overcome it. Though there will be heavy loss of life, health and economy, we will end up all right after this. For all we know, this is just a challenge and we are perfectly capable of coming out of this unscathed. Bringing out the best in people by providing them with ample time, the lockdown does have its pros. The wide interests of people ranging from gardening, reading, writing, painting and cooking have all had time to be improved. Parents now have more time to spend with their children, and families are happily living in the company of each other.

I believe that persuading me to do simple chores such as cleaning the windowsills, dusting, and even helping during cooking, my mother has helped improve me in the best possible way. I read, introspect and indulge in creative activities. Be it constructing DIY-toys out of cardboard for my brother, or be it making tea for my parents, I use the time I have to hone my skills. I engage myself in writing, increasing my vocabulary through reading and enhancing my creativity.

I strongly encourage everyone reading this to follow their passion and utilise their time for themselves. Remember that we are like surfers and the pandemic is just a wave. If we steady ourselves, we can ride it with ease.
