A special assembly was conducted to celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The students of Class IV presented an insightful PPT highlighting the contributions of remarkable Indian women in science and technology. The presentation covered pioneers like Rajeshwari Chatterjee, South Asia’s first female physician, and Anna Mani, the ‘Weather Woman of India’. Post-independence achievers included Dr Indira Hinduja, who delivered India’s first test-tube baby, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, a biotech entrepreneur, Dr Aditi Pant, an oceanographer, and Kalpana Chawla, India’s first woman astronaut. The assembly concluded with a thought-provoking fact that women constitute only 28 per cent of the STEM workforce, emphasising the need for greater female participation in these fields.
